Very well could be! His wife's name was Fredrika Ritter. Though the obit I have says he died in October. This is from a 1907 paper. Handwritten at the top was 1833-1907.
Wn. Sproehnle, the father of Mrs. Charles Himmelman (Irving Ave)passed int eternal rest, Friday morning October 24 at his home in Hyde Park. Mr. Sproehnle came to America and settled in Chicago in 1851. In 1861 at the beginning of the war, he enlisted in the Eighty-Second Illionis Regiment under General Sherman. During the war hew ws wounded twice, and served until it's end. July 15, 1865 he was appointed a letter carrier. in rcent years he had charge of the advertized letter dept. making a record of forty two years with the government. He was a member of the Post Office Clerks Association, Lyons Post GAR, and Court Douglas I.O.O. Burial took place Sunday in Waldheim Cemetary.
