Yeah I have a letter from my great great grandfather, Jasper Newton Adams, part of the company A, 31st regiment Texas calvary said that his wife's(Isa Bendia Carver Adams)step brother, James H. Wilcox was a jayhawker.I am looking for more info about all of these people.I know that Jasper died of dysetary in 1863 and I think he was buried in an unmarked grave.I wish I could find him.His
home was in Fort Worth, TX.The letters that passed down to me from my Dad tell a real sad story.Family legends says that Isa Bendia knew he would n't come home because his horse came back to the house from Fort Smith Ark. without Jasper.Anyway yes there were jayhawkers in Texas.
