Leslie,
Here is a place you can check I found 3 Charles A Jones, the first being in Co D, but did not fight at Battle of the Wilderness. I did not check with just Charles Jones but maybe you can check on this site. You never mentioned if he was Union of Confederate, so left that part blank. The last 2 did fight at Battle of the Wilderness. It tells you a little info on what they did and when they did, The year matched what you had him as dying.
