All of the Confederate States and several border states (MD, MO, and KY) granted pensions to any CSA Patriot or his widow, based on need, starting around 1900.They did NOT have to serve in a unit from that state.
You can EMail Steve Tuttle at The SC Archives in Columbia, SC at [email protected] and asked for information on his widow's pension.If you know the county he was in before the war, you can also ask for a SURNAME search in that county and give him a to/from date range, they will mail you a list of what they fiund and cost.You must include your mailing address.A typical cost is less than $15, a bargain.
