Besides my Jeptha Monroe Fortson,( b. 1845 Leake Co.Ms, son of Aaron J. Fortson,Elbert Co.Ga.son of William Fortson);
I have these Fortson names as having served:Fancis Ashbury, B.B., James N., E.F. ,Wm. W.,Moses Edward, John H.,John B., Elijah Richard, Blanton B., Henry A., William T., Stephen H., Jesse W., George E., Eastin L. who was killed at Gettysburg,most from Georgia, and most from Elbert Co.,,,, but still can't find the records of my Jeptha Monroe Fortson above...I have always thought that the above Aaron J. Fortson, b. 1816 Elbert Co.Ga. was the Aaron J. Fortson that I have found in books mentioned as serving in the CSA and captured in sent to New Orleans as prisoner of war. Aaron J. was 64 years old in the 1880 census.Would he have been too old for service in the CSA?
And point me to my Jeptha Monroe Fortson records that you sent earlier, please.I appreciate your help very much.Carol
