Nicolle,
OK, here is where it gets interesting....Amboy is in Miami County,Indiana. The 101st Indiana Infantry was recruited from various counties around Wabash,Indiana in Wabash county, including Miami county,Tipton,Hamilton,Grant and some others.
There was a Michael Puderbaugh that was in the 101st Indiana Inf,co K as a private.Enlisted 3/11/1864. Company K was basically from Wabash county, but Michael Puderbaugh doesnt have a residence listed. So he may have been from Miami county or Wabash county(next door to Miami county) So here is the rabbit trail to go down.....Check Michael Puderbaugh and see if there is a connection to David. Maybe the story got turned sideways and he is your CW soldier that served.
And I checked my burial records in Miami county and found a Harvey B. Puterbaugh that supposedly served. He is buried at Mays cemetery in Miami county.I couldnt find any info on his service or regiment though.
Sorry if I opened a can of worms for you, but I thought you might want the info.
