The introduction of the family history book on Evans Cissna (son of Stephen & Elizabeth Barnhill) located in the Ross County Ohio geneologicial society says that all those with the 'Cissna' spelling decended from Stephen. There is a Joseph Cessna (Stephen's brother - was the son of John DeCissna II.) All of John DeCessna's children were born in Pennsylvania. He died in 1796, at age 104, so it is unlikely he was the father of someone born in 1789 - but you never can tell. Stephen's children were born both in Pennsylvania and in Ross/Pike County Ohio. He moved his family to Ohio after his father's death. Have not run across any record of a Cissna born in Michigan before 1800. I believe some of the Ohio Cissnas moved to Michigan following the war of 1812, but can't find my source for that info. Hope this is helpful.
