Seeking to exchange information on the following Chute family. 1. Daniel1 Chute was born in Ireland. He married Elizabeth McGraw. Elizabeth was born in Ireland. Daniel and Elizabeth McGraw Chute reportedly migrated from Ireland to America in the 1850s, settled in Pittsburg and raised three children. Michael Daniel Chute was the eldest of their three children and their only son. However, their son is listed in the 1880 Census, Ohio, Belmont County, Martins Ferry, page 183A, Michael Chute, 18, laborer, living alone, born in Ohio, father and mother born in Ireland. Perhaps the family migrated to Ohio or Wheeling, West Virginia before Michael was born. I suspect that he was younger than 18 in 1880, other sources have his birth year about 1866. I have been unable to find Daniel and Elizabeth Chute in the 1860 or later census. Daniel Chute and Elizabeth McGraw had the following children: + 2 i. Michael Daniel2 Chute was born 1866. 3 ii. dau Chute. 4 iii. dau Chute. Second Generation 2. Michael Daniel2 Chute (Daniel1) was born in Ohio 1866. Michael died October 24, 1916 in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, at 50 years of age. He married twice. He married Elizabeth Kunz in Wheeling, Ohio, West Virginia, 1899. Elizabeth was born in Wheeling, Ohio, West Virginia 1881. Elizabeth was the daughter of Benedict Kunz and Elizabeth Fisher. Elizabeth died May 8, 1903 in Wheeling, Ohio, West Virginia, at 21 years of age. He married Rose Kunz in Wheeling, Ohio, West Virginia, 1905. Rose was born in Meinisberg, Berne, Switzerland circa 1872. Rose was the daughter of Benedict Kunz and Elizabeth Fisher. Rose died November 2, 1913 in Slocan, British Columbia, Canada, at 41 years of age. Rose Chute died in the Slocan City District, which is located on the CP Railway, at the south end of Slocan Lake, Kootenay Land District, British Columbia, Canada. Although it is not presently known how Michael Chute and Elizabeth Kunz met, they married and had two children, Marguerite Elizabeth and John Dalton Chute. While the children were young, Elizabeth died in 1903 following an operation. Michael and the children lived temporarily with his in-laws. While there he married Rose Kunz the sister of Elizabeth. Michael moved his family to Rhoney's Point near Triadelphia, West Virginia. About April 1909, Michael Chute moved his family to Appledale, British Columbia, Canada, planning to homestead a land grant. Instead he managed a country store and post office. November 2, 1913, Rose Chute died as a result of the birth of her son Benjamin Daniel Chute, who survived. For the next four years Michael Daniel Chute raised his five children alone. In 1916, he died of a heart attack while the children were at school. The five Chute children were sent to Wheeling, West Virginia by train. There they were raised or adopted by their Kunz grandparents and aunts and uncles. 1880 Census, Ohio, Belmont County, Martins Ferry, page 183A, Michael Chute, 18, laborer, living alone, born in Ohio, father and mother born in Ireland. In the 1900 census for Wheeling, WV, a Michael Chute, cigar broker, is listed along with wife, Lizzie, and daughter Marguerite. They have been married one year and have had one child. However, no birth months, birth years, ages, or places of birth are given in the census listing. This listing is Michael Daniel Chute and his first wife Elizabeth Kunz. After Elizabeth died, Michael married her sister Rose.
