Hello Alan, Sorry to have piggybacked this e-mail, but I did not know what to do I've just started on the road of researching the family name and wonder if you could provide any useful information. We are a small band in Rotherham South Yorkshire. My father knows very little about his family so was not much help. This is what I know so far. My father's name is Joseph Churms and he was born June 3 1930, to Walter Churms and Ada Cooper My grand father Walter was born in Conisbrough in Sept 1900 and his parents where John and Louisa(nee Bartlett) Siblings where John, Lottie, Louisa,Mary, David, Maria, Arthur, Eliza and Lena In the 1901 Census record their surname is recorded as CHURM. They appear to have moved from the Midlands between 1894 and 1896 to Yorkshire. Probably to work at Denaby Main as John and his son John were down as miners on the Census. Their address in 1901 was 10 Edlington Street Denaby. John and Louisa appear to have married in Tipton St Paul (Sandwell) in Sept 1887. John was born in 1866 in WestBromwich and Louisa was born in 1865 with a suggestion that she orignated from Bilston. Of the children John (1888),Lottie(1890), Louisa (1892) and Mary (1894) were born in West Brom with the rest born in Conisbrough. If you can shine any light on my family history I would be very grateful. Yours in anticipation Alan Notify Administrator about this message?
