Dear Hetaher and Michael,
I have been also corresponding with Brian, My husband is descended from Sarah Churchward who married Richard Crispin in Bucckfastleigh 1812. They ended up in Australia.

Do any of you live in London and would be able to look at a 1693 listing of Churchard in Buckastleight. It was taken as part of the Marriage Duties act of 1694- a special tax. It is at the Btoish Library and I was about to post a letter asking for research.

There were three of that name and would most likely be the John who had children bap and buried 1702 onwards.I understand the listing records ages although I am not sure about names. If the listing has the name of the wife we may find a marriage This could help us find where the Buckfastleigh Churchwards came from.
Hope to hear from you,
Margaret
