Hi Maureen,

M.G.Churchward was Mary Grace Churchward, and she married Thomas Edwards on the 10th. October, 1838 in the parish church of Stoke Gabriel, Devon.

Mary Grace was born on the 17th. July, 1814, and was the elder of the two daughters of John Churchward (1781-1852) by his first wife Mary Ann Puddicombe (d.1817).

John went on to have another 12 children by his second wife and, being the eldest son in the family, resided in Hill House, Stoke Gabriel - the main family home (now known as the Gabriel Court Hotel).
