G'day from Australia,
Checking through the wads of material here I figure Brian you are about the best person to contact.

I am related to the Churchwards from Stokes Gabriel I understand.
My grandparents were Lillian Myrtle Churchward and Alexander .... Churchward of Sutherland, NSW AUstralia.
they had four children:
May, Vivian (Thorburn), Rev. Ken Churchward (http://www.grovechurch.org.au/) and Betty (Grose)
I am Betty's son Steve.
Do you have a family tree sorted out?
I have a photo of my great grandmother's headstone at Glen Innes. She died at a young age after bearing a few children. (Glen Innes i a small country town in the North of NSW, Australia. Providentially I was called to pastor a Baptist church there between 1987 and 1990).
Upon her death, my grandfather (aged 8) went with his dad and younger brothers from Glen Innes to Grafton where his dad worked on the railway.
My Grandfather Alexander I think, (or maybe my grandmother )claied descent from Sir Francis Drake ( I remember my grandmother showing me his snuff box, which was a family heirloom, stolen from them in about 1967). I am wondering if you had traced back the Stokes Gabriel connection to there? Please let me know if you have come up with anything. I would be very interested in seeing the family tree that you have worked out.
Many thanks for your patience,
Rev. Steve Grose
