Josiah (Josias) Churchill (ca. 1613 - 1686)
In trying to figure out where the name "Spencer" came from in my husband's paternal line (he was to be Norman Spencer Pierce IV), I am stuck at his Churchill colonial ancestor (8th great grandfather), Josiah or Josias, who settled in Wethersfield, CT and was buried in the Newington Cemetery in 1686. So many family trees offer bogus links to famous English peers but so far I can find no documentation. Any new research?
