I'm about to run off for an appointment, so this will be brief. You may be referring to my book, "A Family Odyssey, The Connecticut Churchills and the Settling of American 1635-1900." It attempts to be a history of the family more than a genealogy per se. It is more accurate than "Churchill Family in America" where I acquired additional informaion or could put together CFA's information in a more meaningful way, but CFA is still the standard genealogy for the three northern families, There is a great deal of information on James's children in CFA, but on taking a quick look at it I note there seems to be some confusion between Ridgeway, NC, and Ridgeway, VA. The former is just north of NC, while the latter is just south of VA. I imagine CFA is wrong where it says NC.

The Y-DNA testing that you ask about would merely confirm common ancestry with the Connecticut Churchills if there were an unbroken Churchill male line of descent. It appears, though, that your descent was from a Churchill daughter, so the Y-DNA of your brothers would be that of whatever their family name is.

Hope this is helpful.
