ws I am a decendant of John Churchill d.1662 Plymoth Ma.
through William 1656, Benjamin Sr.1695, Benjamin Jr.1727
Joseph 1764, Williams 1795, Abraham(or Abram)1821,
William 1856, to Sarah Alice Churchill Rhea 1890 Born in
Clay Co. Tx.(second child)
William shows up in Clay Co. Tx. on 1880 census as
single. Sometime between 1880 and 1887(birth of first
child per 1900 census) he marries. The 1890 federal was
burned and Clay Co. records burned in a 1920s fire.
Therefore I cannot find my great grandmother's name.
William shows up on 1900 f.census in Brisco Co. Tx. as
a widower with five children, the last three born in
Indian Territory ,last child 1896. I have searched Indian
Territory census and records. They are incomplete and
and hard to navigate.(a Mess) I found Churchills but not
William and wife.(so far)
Sometime after 1900 William married Caroline Peters
Cope, a widow also on the 1900 Brisco Co.census,apparently
living close to William. They migrated to Refugio Co.
Tx. living there until their deaths. On every census
after, Caroline is listed as the mother of William's
children.
I am hoping to contact someone with a bible
record, family letter or anything that shows William's
wife's given and or surname. If anyone has a
suggestion or clue about where to search I would also
welcome that. My thanks to any or all that might help.
