Dear Malcolm,

OK, I understand. So you're saying that it's confirmed that the CT Churchills are related to the Devon/Dorset Churchills--correct? I did think that was the case once I found out that both the Martin and Crocker families who came from Devonshire (Yeamplton or something) were both in Duxbury MA, same as John's family--actually thanks to my neighbro downstairs from Duxbury. Also my Larson cousin and I may be related on both sides of our families, as his mother was a Crocker (and there is a Crocker-Churchill marriage way back in England). Pretty astounding eh? He and I think a lot alike.

I also have other ancestral news: just yesterday and today I believe I have found Lucy Martha Churchill's husband, John M. Eaton, to have been a Civil War veteran of the 20th IN Infantry regiment, mustered in at Lafayette IN in July '61 , which is a short distance NE of John's home of Fountain Co. and Lucy's in Montgomery. Daughter Ida was born quickly after their marriage (ca. April '61) and Viola after the war. He also died ca. 1873. Both facts made me believe he was a veteran (plus his age, 22). The 20th IN was a heavily engaged unit, in the thick of the action with the Army of the Potomac: the Peninsula Campaign, 2nd Bull Run, Gettysburg, Spottsylvania, the Wilderness, Petersburg, and at Appomatox. Also they must have been shooting at the Merriamc during its battle with Monitor, as they were on the scene. My mother's Worden line makes us cousins to the captain of Monitor, ADM John L. Worden. So we had 2 relatives at this battle!! Again weird!

Thanks again.
Kay
