The Churchill genealogy published in 1904, and some earlier postings on this board, state that Eliezer's second wife was Mary Doty, dau. of Edward & Faith (Clarke) Doty, whom he married in 1688. The Doty genealogy published by the Mayflower Society in 1991, however, states that Edward & Faith's daughter Mary was married to Samuel Hatch, and that he had children through 1698 (presumably with Mary, though no wife is mentioned). It also indicates that Mary died prior to the writing of Samuel's will in 1728, because she's not mentioned.
While both books could be correct (if Mary divorced Samuel and married Eliezer, while Samuel found someone else and continued producing children), this seems unlikely.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
