Hi Mike. John was indeed born Mosterton along with his younger brother Thomas. (1881 census Mosterton). His older brothers were born in Crewkerne. They were all the children of Edwin and Mary Phillis Churchill. Edwin born 1848 being the son of Joseph and Harriet Churchill. If you can explain your reasoning for the connection of Joseph married to Harriet with Joseph of Misterton I may think of something. Can't be sure but if Harriet and Joseph were married after June 1837 then the marriage certificate may identify Joseph's father and Harriet's come to that. I'm only just beginning my 18cent Churchill quest so I may turn something up.
