Thank you for all the trouble you have obviously taken in looking up my Churchill family. You are very kind.

I believe most of those you cited were James and Harriet's children, and Emma Deborah was their eldest child (born in England). Harriet didn't marry again (they are buried together) - I guess Harriet was a common name in those days.

James' birth date is actually on his headstone, and in the 1851 census he gave his birthplace as Gillingham, but I am having trouble finding him and his dad David on the Dorset OPC lists.

Thanks also for finding him in the IGI - shame there is no source given!
