I am also descended from John Churchill & Hannah Pont(i)us. I have seen on the Ancestral File by the LDS that John is descended from a John son of John Churchill & Eleanor Meller. I have not been able to find anything to confirm this, everything I find indicates John & Eleanor only had daughters. I also have not seen the book you refer to, so will have to try and obtain a copy. I do have a reprint of The Churchill Family in America by Gardner Asaph Churchill.
