Lucy Eliza Churchill m. Capt.Robt.C. Markee at Albany, Ill. in 1871. They raised 11 sons. Capt. Markee was born at Tippecanoe, Ohio. He served in the 34th Illinois infantry during the Civil War and was with Gen'l Sherman during the march from Atlanta to the sea. Capt. Markee knew President Lincoln personally and because of his acquaintance with President Lincoln and Capt.Markee's long service, he was a much sought after patriotic speaker. Capt. Markee was an uncle of John Riley Kellogg of Glasco, Ks and at one time, Capt. Markee ran a jewelry store in Glasco, Ks., & also Quincy, Ill.before moving to Portland,Oregan.
