Malcolm, I cover most of this in my book Great Necessities: The Life, Times and Writings of Anna Ella Carroll, 1815-1894 whose family founded the Presbyt. Church in America. I referenced the History of the Reformed Church of Scotland in the NYPL published in 1873 in Edinburgh. I think I was the first to open it. In even good histories of Scotland you only find brief mention of the rebellions of 1666, 1679 and 1681, which really meant a good part of Scotland for 25 years. During the Amer Rev, the Methodlists mostly stayed neutral, as they swore their allegiance to Wesley. Best, Kay PS--my book will probably be out in November. Notify Administrator about this message?
