Malcolm: most definitely agree this discussion best reserved for message board. But, I do have addresses given in the Reynolds manual, which, even though publicized, am reluctant to post on web. (will give them via email) Not sure who owns addresses. Since work was printed 1985, direct contact with author might be possible.
In referencing Benjamin and Mary Towsey (Toucey, Tousey), I have only been following the most common path. Another wife has also been mentioned, that seems completely in error. In reality, I have found no data which seems authentic.
Truth is, though I have copied pages from the manuals and have read them, have not scrutinized material as am consummed in other directions. But, since you have shown interest, as others may, will take several of the next hours to make comparisons, to see if I haven't missed something.
One thing certain, three "Marys" (at least) appear in the life of Thomas Catlin --- which doesn't help explain Mary Towsey. Incidently, Stiles gives spellings as Towsey, Tousey, Toucey and Tousland. The Tousey book lists even more.
In fact, besides Joseph's Mary Catlin, apparently a pre-born sister, baptized 11/26/1646,was also named Mary. The 2nd Mary (Joseph's wife) re the manual, was born 5/6/1649. Manual says only that Ist Mary "died young". Obviously, preceding the birth of 2nd Mary.
Insofar as Diana/Dinah, I have been in recent contact with a Deming descendant, who writes of "Dinah", and most other sources also spell the name Dinah. So, I don't know if that means the manual is not well researched,or, that it is all the more authentic because it was not contaminated by the usual, internet traps?
