It does appear that there were three William Young Church's, not just the two I knew about (one b 1810 who was 3rd son of Oliver Church 1780-1852, and one b 1837 who was his grandson, ie., son of Oliver's 2nd son Archibald Garrett, my 3rd ggf and his first wife Lydia Mouck). According to your research the third one was born in 1858 around Cobourg which was close to Port Hope where William Young Church b 1810 ran Church's Hotel around the same time.

It does seem that some middle names came from uncles and aunts by marriages, Archibald's second son by Margaret Lowry, Thomas Cook Church seems to have been named after his aunt by marriage, Anne Cook. (My unrelated Nova Scotia lines carried this practice so far as to make one wonder if they were practicing inbreeding.)
