One source of information about the Phoebe Church who married Enoch Wilbor is the book by John A. Church, "Descendants of Richard Church of Plymouth, Mass.," Rutland, Vt.: Tuttle Co., 1913, 354 pgs. You can find the book online via Heritage Quest.

Phoebe is in the section of the book covering Church families whose connection to the Richard Church lineage is believed but unproven. The section is "Unplaced Members of the Plymouth Family," and Phoebe's family story begins on page 321. The book's editor notes that the family of Phoebe Church and Enoch Wilbor is also recounted in the book, "The Wildbores in America."

The LeFevre family of New Paltz, New York, believed that Phoebe [2541] was the daughter of Caleb Church and Mercy Pope. However, Phoebe's name is not included in the records of that family, as far as the records show. The book gives Phoebe's birth date as 15 July 1755 and her marriage date to Enoch Wilbor as 25 Feb. 1775. They had 13 children, from Isaac b. 1777 through Saloma b. 1799.

My interest is Phoebe's brother or half-brother Caleb Church [2542], said to have been born 19 December 1772. He too is missing in records of the Caleb Church-Mercy Pope family. Caleb b. 1772 married Hannah Baker, b. 4 March 1773, and they settled in Ulster County, N. Y., where he farmed and was a cooper and she was a Quaker preacher. They had nine children according to page 323 the book, including Benjamin [2581], born 23 July 1807. He came to the young town of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1835 as a pioneer carpenter and builder. He is among my ancestors.

If you have learned more about the parents of Phoebe and Caleb Church, I hope you will post it here as there are other cousins interested as well. Thank you.
