Wilhelmus Crysler/Chrysler/Kreisler (1727) and Catherine Shours/Schauer (1735) were my 5th gr grandparents. They had 10 children, of which one was MARGARET born 1761 East Camp, Columbia, New York, d 1876, married THOMAS KILLMORE/KILMER. I have one child listed for their marriage = Catheraine Kilmore b 9 Aug 1793, bpt. Hillsdale 8 Sept 1793. Margaret Crysler was also listed as having 2 more husbands, names unknown. The original Crysler immigrants to the New World arrived with a group of some 2800 regugees from the overpopulated and heavily taxed region of Germany called the Lower Palatine. They left Germany in 1709 and emigrated from England soon thereafter to manufacture naval stores along the Hudson River. Nearly one out of every 6 of these voyagers died on the trip. They lived along the Hudson River near present day Athens, NY until abt 1784 when they moved to Schoharie C., NY. In the early 1800s these Crysler families removed to Marcellus, Onandaga, NY where they cleared and farmed the land. During the Revolutionary War many Cryslers stayed loyal to the Crown and many joined the insurgents cause. A great number of the Loyalists emigrated to Canada at the end of the war. Wilhelmus and Kate left their residence near Athens, NY in 1784 and settled in Schoharie C., NY with the younger members of their family. The married children remained near Athens. This info taken from an extension of "Crysler & Chrysler History & Family Trees" by H. Crysler Hilliker, 1974, 1981. A large, extensive, and very good book. Will send sibling info later. My fingers are tired of typing right now.
