I have been researching the CHRISTIE/CHRISTY families that settled in Decatur county, Indiana from Kentucky. My line is a William CHRISTY, b. ca 1835 in IN, married Sarah A. SMOTHERS ca. 1858. Was in the Decatur County census for 1860 and 1870 and had the following children: Mary Belle CHRISTY (m. John ELDER); Matta CHRISTY; Luetta CHRISTY (m. poss. Wm. MYERS); Ida May CHRISTY (m. Jas. KNARR); Wilbur Gibbs CHRISTY (m. GuSena SCHROER); and Edgar Milton CHRISTY (m. Cordelia GRAVES). In the 1880 census, I can only find Wilby CHRISTY, 12 (my gg grandpa) in the hshld of John CLEMMONS as adopted) and Edgar CHRISTY, 5 in the hshld of James FORTUNE as a boarder. Need to tie William to one of the surrounding KY Christy families.
