CHRISTIEs in Halifax, NC
Posted by: Joyce Davis Date: June 12, 1998 at 21:25:20
  of 1173

My Christie lineage migrated from Halifax, NC to middle TN in the early 1800's. John Itia Christie was the transition person, traveling to Nashville with a wagon load of tobacco to sell. He remained in TN, settling first in Whites Bluff and working as a foreman. In the 1840's, he and his wife Elizabeth moved to Waynesboro, TN where he was the local blacksmith. Does anyone recognize this name?
This family started out as Christies then used the Christy spelling in the mid 1800's, then reverted back later.
