The Ambrose Christy you are looking for is most likely, the Ambrose Christy who was the son of Julius Christy and Agatha Barnett. He was born in Culpeper County, Virginia
on 10 November 1768. He was later married in Clark County, Kentucky to a woman named Mary Bush on 18 June 1794. Mary, who had been born on 10 June 1774, was the daughter of Francis Bush and Lucy Davis.

In about 1790, Ambrose served in the Indian Wars under General Harmer. He was later commissioned as a Captain in the 17th Regiment of the Kentucky State Militia. Although Ambrose was a tavern keeper, he also served as a Magistrate in Clark County in 1820, and as Sheriff in 1823. In about 1836, Ambrose and Mary moved to Mercer County, Kentucky, where they settled in the vicinity of Harrodsburg.

Ambrose died in Mercer County on 18 July 1839, while Mary died there on 28 October 1849. Both Ambrose and Mary were buried alongside their daughter, Malinda, in the Vivion Family Graveyard near Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
