I also had noticed the gaps in dates and wondered whether someone was missing. It seems a little bit strange that the split is so neatly boys and girls, especially as the boys were all christened in the Church of England St Leonard's Shoreditch and the girls all in what doesn't sound like C of E to me (though I know that these things were a bit variable inthose days). I think the parents of either Thomas or Hannah must have lived in Mile End at that time.

I have looked for a marriage for Thomas and Hannah snr in St Leonard's, but have found nothing. Perhaps there is something to be found in the Sion Chapel. Have you looked?

I have Thomas and Hannah's death certificates infront of me. I don't have a scanner, but I can post you photocopies if you want (if so then email me your address rather than post it here). The details are as follows:

Name and Surname: Hannah Christmas
Sex: female
Age: 78 years
Occupation: widow of Thomas Christmas, Turner
Cause of Death: Dropsy, certified
Informant: Joseph Christmas, present at the death, 12 Radnor Terrace, Brownlow Road, Dalston
When registered: 27th August 1856
Registrar: Theos Woodroof, deputy registrar

I am descended from their 3rd son, Samuel Cooper Christmas.
