Hi Jacq,
Thanks for the info, it is very interesting. I do not have a death cert. etc. for Hannah Jr. but the following extract from the Sydney Morning Herald provides reference to Hannah's father:
Death Notice - Page 1 - Thursday, August 4, 1864.
"On Tuesday, 2nd Instant, at Camperdown-road, of gastric fever, the beloved wife of G. F. Rossiter, only daughter of the late Mr Thomas Christmas, of Holywell-row, London. London papers please copy."

I have tried searching the IGI for Hannah's siblings & have found several entries for Mile End, Old Town, London for parents Thomas Christmas & Hannah. There are as follows:
Sarah Ezabela Christmas b. 06 DEC 1804 chr. 10 JAN 1805
Hannah Christmas b. 13 JUN 1806 chr. 07 JUL 1806
Mary Ann Christmas b. 02 SEP 1807 chr. 08 OCT 1807
Hannah Christmas b. 28 JUL 1817 chr. 11 APR 1819
Francis Christmas b. 07 DEC 1818 chr. 24 JAN 1819
all of "Sion Chapel-Union Street Lady Huntingdons-Nc, Mile End Old Town, London, England" with parents Thomas Christmas & Hannah.

Upon looking at these in hind sight of info. you have sent me, perhaps it fits together. Notice the gaps in dates here (which previously baffled me as they were enormous - usually if a family changes the parish at which there children are christened, they don't return to the same one 10 years later). The gaps are filled fairly neatly by the six sons! Perhaps all the earlier daughters did not survive due to genetic reasons - else where in research I have come across situations where no sons could survive due (it is thought) to first cousins marrying. What does Hannah Sr. death cert. say? I wonder are you able to email me a copy of her & Thomas' certs. if you have a scanner. It seems unusual that her maiden name would be unknown - unless it was Christmas too! I know this is quite an assumption but it is just that with all the Rossiters marrying Christmas' in later generations, intermarriage seems quite possible in this family.
Please keep in touch,
Anthony.
