You just might be descended from Jacob Christman and his wife, Barbara (Heckendorn) Christman. Jacob was born 5 May 1720 in Rodan, Steinthal, Alsace which was, at the time, German territory but is now part of France. He married Barbara H. on 1 Oct 1742 in Lancaster, Lancaster Co., Pa. and they moved to Guilford County, North Carolina where he died 24 Jan 1785. Barbara was born 5 Apr 1718 in Langenbruck, Basel-land, Switzerland. She came to colonial America along with her parents, who were of the Moravian religion, and several brothers, (the youngest, a 3-year old, died at sea during the trip), on the same ship that Jacob Christman sailed on. The ship was the "Princess Augusta" sailing out of Cowes, England and the year was 1736. Jacob and Barbara had 7 children---Johannes married Mary Whitsel, John Jacob Jr. m. Maria Barbara, Abraham m. ___ Muffines, Anna Maria m. Jacob Muffines, Catherine m. George Stockburger, Theodora died as a child, and Daniel m. Johanna Fischer. I have more details in case these are your ancestors. Please feel free to contact me if they are. I would check the county courthouse records for deeds, birth, marriage and death certs. and probate wills or whatever it takes to work back to that era. Good Luck and have fun with your search. By the way, I am descended from Jacob and Barbara through their son, John Jacob Jr. and his wife, Maria Barbara and grandson, Peter and his wife, Sarah Stout.
