Hi Susan: My guess is you have seen David's wonderful Christman web page. It is a thing of beauty. I have been helping another Christman with her family tree and chanced to search the Saint Louis Christmans. A branch of them comes from Alsace, my family place of origin. They came over here much later than my Chrismans (original spellig Christmann), but could be distant cousins. Checking the immigrant list a Jacob Christman was naturalized in St Louis; his birth date would be about 1846. I found him in the 1880 St. Louis Missouri Census living with his mother (E. Christman, a meat merchant) and his brother F. Chrstman. This Jacob was a Cooper. I found his Death Certificate in the SOS of Missouri Death Certificate Index. There was also a Jacob Christman (a butcher) listed as in prison in Missouri about the time E. Christman was listed as head to this St. Louis Missouri family. Later (after 1900) Elizabeth Chirstman was listed as executrix of Jacob Christmans estate...the Probate documents are also on line in Missouri through the SOS site. Other St. Louis Christmans of my interest include: Peter Christman, the Fred(s) Christman, and Jake Christman. I think all of these people come from the place of my family origins. :o) Steve Chrisman Notify Administrator about this message?
