Hi Juanita,
You do not have the right ancestors for Rebecca Gower. They did not come from North Carolina or Tenn. They came from Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
" The Immagrant "was Johann Nicholas Gauer, a few later generations it changed to Gower. He was born 1722/23 in Germany. He arrived in America aboard the ship " Phonix ", on September 30, 1743, with his wife Barbara and daughter Elizabeth.
Their son Ludwig ( Lewis ) Gauer was born 1746 and married Maria Magdalena Meixell.
Their son was George Gouer, b. December 31, 1776 in Hamilton Twp., Monroe Co.,PA. He was married three times 1. Johanna George, 2. Rosina Scheibele, 3. Susannah Keiser.
Their son was David Gauer B.
abt. 1800 in Northampton Co.,PA ( Now Monroe Co.,Pa ) married to Margaret Unknown.
They had a daughter named Rebecca Gower b. 1850. married to Charles Roth of Towamensing Twp. Carbob co.,PA I know her birth date is wrong, I found it on the internet at
AOL.Hometown. It's the Bond " Family Tree " by Dorthy M. Bond Dittmer, E-mail Bond5787@aol.com
I just put Gouer/Gower, Monroe Co.,PA in the internet anda few sources come up.
If Andrew Christman is a ancester of your son-in-law, we would be related. My grandmother was their daughter she was
Eva Cecila Christman, b. Nov. 8, 1883 in Kunkletown, Eldred Twp., Monroe Co.,PA. D. March 17, 1940 in Cemenron, Lehigh County.,PA. Go to the site i mentioned. Please answer me back if we have the same Rebecca, It sounds like we do. I'd also would like to know how your son-in-law is related to Andrew Christman. Thank you for the answer.
Linda Bartos
