Christmans - Oneida County, NY - 1800s

In 1956-58, several graves were moved from an old family cemetery on Kilbourne Road, Rome, Oneida County, NY to the Wright Settlement Cemetery near Rome. The removal of the graves was required by the U.S. Government, apparently when Griffiss Air Force Base received Strategic Air Command (SAC) designation and no one was able to get to the old family cemetery without military clearance.

I visited the Wright Settlement Cemetery on July 31, 1999. The graves that were moved are now marked with only small metal markers, reading in order as follows:

Henry W. Christman
Harmon A. Christman
Abraham Christman
Phebe H. Christman
Mary A. Christman
Abraham Christman
Betsy Christman
________ Carpenter
David C. Carpenter
Phebe Carpenter
Harmon Carpenter
________ Day
________ Day
________ Day
________ Wheeler
________ Day
________ Wheeler
________ Wheeler

Harmon and Phebe Carpenter are my gr-gr-gr grandparents. Harmon died in 1860, so we know that the old family cemetery was in existence then and probably many years earlier, perhaps as early as 1800.

Seeking any information on the Christmans originally buried at this old family cemetery, or for that matter, any of the other persons originally buried there.
