Regarding the words of James Red Wolf, if I may.

Mr. Red Wolf,

I am not of your tribe, however I am a Christian. You are so correct in your words. Know your blood's folk words. The documents are merely words on paper, no more or less. Helpful probably, however subject to mistakes, exagerations, misreads, and faded writing. Yet that is always considered as sound as gold. However the stories passed by word of mouth are suspect. Why? I am finding more and more that the tales told through the generations, are almost always in complete truth. It is an HONOR to be the one who passes the ancestry down to the next generation. Over and over, not one time. And an unthinkable dishonor to tell my child a false story concerning my ancestors. For what purpose? Others would certainly know. However, how simple to state falsly to a census taker. So many fellow genealogists seem to wish for my head in that belief, it seems. Refreshing to have heard what you are stating.
