This is your first clue to consider, consider it well my friend.
You will find no birth record nor a baptismal record, not a christening, nor any other for this Rachel Skaggs as a daughter of or other blood relation to any Skaggs family. Be aware that she was not of the Skaggs blood, instead, a Shawano. A Cherokee by the tradition of carrying her mother’s clan, but Shawano by the blood of her father. You can only find her “name change” on record, a legal change from her Indian name to Rachel Skaggs. This will give proof to you of her relation to the Cornstalks. Look for her in Montgomery County. She was NOT a Skaggs, keep this in mind.
Also remember this, a Whitt can be whitty, he can also mislead, so you must search carefully to find him. Be this in the case of the other Whitt, Hezekiah N. Whitt. He hides, so it seems, but he can be found. Keep eyes opened and wide, always on the alert for every piece of this puzzle. Let him not pass by you unseen. Find the will, find the estate, find those named by him, including Aunt Rachel who was not a Skaggs after all. There is a record of Mr. Whitt's that gives her name and who she really was. Find this and find connection to the Shawano Chief.
It is all so simple. I am surprized it is taking this long for all to find. I found it, you can find it too. I give you the clues, they are easy to follow, easy for the records to be found.
Don't forget to consider Wythe, Wayne, Tazewell. Don't omitt counties in the Carolina states, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Georgia. Those are the places with the keys to the connections you all seek. Be sure to check Georgia. Heavy Shawano connections are there to our Christians.

Always take a breath, relax, pray, and understand. Pray in all four directions of the medicine wheel, then in three more directions. In this order as it has been done for ages; East, South, West, North, Upward, Downward, and Inward to the soul. Total of seven directions, sacred to the Indians. Each clue is a direction. Follow them with feet well grounded. Don't fall from this red path. It is the way of the Indian.
