CHRISTENSEN in Denmark/Iowa/Michigan
Hello!!
I am trying to find out some further information on a Herman Christensen. According to his Obituary and Death Certificate (The Sources I have) he was born January 7, 1889 in Denmark. He is the son of a Sam Christensen (mother name unknown). His parents came to the USA about 1907 and lived in Iowa for a while and then Northern Michigan.
Herman Christensen moved to Battle Creek, Michigan (Calhoun County) where in August of 1917 he married a Hazel Gilbert. Which she must been married before because her maiden name is Sasser and I am trying to locate her first marriage. Her full name was Isabelle Hazel Sasser, daughter of Leander Sasser and Sarah Cox. She was born July 29 1893 in Indiana. Herman and Hazel had 2 known children Herman M Christensen Jr. and Helena Christensen. Helena was married to a George F Oliver. I would like to have any further information on their children.
NOTE: The Sasser Family line is my Direct line. Hazel was a sister to my GG Grandmother Idella Eleanor Sasser. I have lots of info to share on the Sasser line upon request.
Herman Christensen lived at 878 E Michigan Street in Battle Creek, Michigan. He owned and operated Christensen's Meat Market at same address. He first worked at a former Meat Market called Mel Tuckerman Market, then Bazley Market. Prior to 1938 for 8 years he owned and operated Herman's Market in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Herman had 3 known brothers Godfrey of Denmark, Theodore of Solvang, California, and Jens of Burbank California. He had 2 known sisters Emma and Helena both lived in Denmark.
Any further information on this family would be appreciated. I would like to hear from anyone who can connect or has information on them.
Mike
