I am looking for information on JOHN CHRISTALL b.1830 England who served Company C Frontier Forces at Bexar County Texas in 1860's.
The Christal name by any spelling is well recorded in the old records of Aberdeen Scotland and are of the clan BUCHAN. There was a Willi Cristole burges of Prestwick in 1470, John Cristall witnessed a charter of land in Rait in 1491, George Cristall of Dysart was a captive of Algiers in 1650 (surnames of Scotland pg 151)
I have the records of the British Isles in which so many Chrystal/Christalls/Christolls are listed.
Example:
William Christall s/o William & Margaret Burr christened 17 April 1841 Aberdeen.
William Chrystal s/o William and Marg.Reed christened 23 Sept 1852 Sterling,Scotland.
William Cristall s/o John christened 12 Octo 1656.
I believe names were put to pen as they sounded with illiteracy so common.
