Hello Cynthia,
My name is Walter Christ and I live in West Seneca, N.Y..
I'm sorry I hadn't checked theChrist Forum recently.
I've been trying to locate info on Adolph for about 5 years.
I'm fairly certain the Christs'- Adolph & Martin are my ggrandfather and grandfather. Adolphs' children jive with my great aunts & uncles names as well as their birth dates.
This side lived in the Smith st. area for years.
We may be related through Adoplh. However, there is some discrepancies. The wife of Adolph in an 1880 census is listed as a Minnie 23 yrs old. (Census page 15, Supervisors's Dist 11, Enumeration District 134frame 383) The children corespond, Fredric 12, George 9, Emil 5, Martin 3 (April 9,1877), and Adelheid 9 mos..
Is Minnie a nickname for Wilhelmina ? But in the 1900 Federal census she's listed as Head of Household and Minnie Switke and Clara is listed.
The information is so close I'm fairly certain Adolph is the same ggreat grandfather. Martin is my grandfather. He and his wife Margaret are buried in Acacia Park in Tonawanda, N.Y. My aunt Violet is buried in St. Matthews Cemetery, Clinton St. West Seneca.
You probably know by now that the Buffalo City Directory lists all inhabitants, their occupations, and where they lived.
