I totally agree that George CHRISMAN (husband of Elizabeth HAGLER) is not the son of Jacob CHRISMAN and Magdalena HEYDT/HITE, nor is he a son of Isaac CHRISMAN and Jane/Jean SCOTT.However, there's every reason to believe he was born in NC.
George CHRISMAN was in Mecklenburg [now Cabarrus] Co. NC, not SC, in the 1790 Census.(There were HAGLERs in Mecklenburg Co., NC, in 1790 and in Lancaster Co., SC, in 1790 and 1800.)George and Michael CHRISMAN show up in the 1800 Census of Lancaster Co., NC, in 1800, then George appears in Christian Co., KY, by 1807, where he lives until at least 1824.I lose track of Michael, whom I believe is his brother. At no time do I place George in Pendleton, Anderson Co., SC, even though most sources show his children born there, which cannot be correct.
I have found five of George's children in the 1850 Census, and the four earlier ones:Michael, George, Barbara, and Catharine all give their birthplace as NC, not SC.William, the youngest (b. 1812), gives his birthplace as KY.These birthplaces are consistent with George being in Mecklenburg [now Cabarrus] Co., NC, not Anderson Co., SC.Also, Barbara was baptised in 1797 at the Rocky River Church, which is in Cabarraus Co., NC, so George CHRISMAN was only briefly in Lancaster Co., SC, before moving to KY.
There was a Michael CHRISMAN who was granted land on Dutch Buffalo Creek (then in Anson Co., later Mecklenburg Co., and now Cabarrus Co., NC) in 1760 and 1765.In 1787, his son Michael Jr. (as so stated in the deeds, which say father, Michael Sr., died intestate) sells two parcels, one of them to a George CHRISMAN.George and Michael are roughly the same age, and I don't doubt they are brothers.

I'm still gathering data (do we ever stop?), but I thought you might be interested in what I have so far.
