Chretien to Chretin?

The family lore has been that my maiden name of Chretin was Chretien at some point. My g-grandfather came from France to Mexico where my grandfather Charles was born. Charles (grandfather) married his second wife, Martha Hernandez in Mexico and moved to Los Angeles. He died in the 1930's. I know very little on this family and would love to find out more. They had several children: Charles, Maxine, Leonard, Lilly, Frank to name a few. Thank you
