Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
As reported by Patricia Greer, the book, "Nancy and John, a Chittum Genealogy" has long been out of print. Mr. John W. Chittum died on 31 May 1980. He worked many years gathering data for the book. He worked closely with Miss Mae Chittum of Sorento, IL. Mae had corresponded for years with my great grandmother, Mary Margaret Deacon Pumphrey, dau of Ellen Chittum Deacon. Through the years I corresponded with Mae and then John. Many people contributed to the gathering of family information. In the acknowledgements John gives much credit to others but he was the guiding force that brought the book to reality. All Chittum descendants owe a debt of gratitude to John.
The book was published and released in 1981. Much raw data came in after the book was published. Being too late to include it that material was sent to The University Library, Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia. The raw material which is included in the book is also stored there. Anyone desiring to get data from that source should consult the people there to see if they make searches upon request.
"John and Nancy--a Chittum Genealogy" was printed by Swifty Printers; 1105-A; Arlington, TX 76015.
