Sarah Chittick, b Palatinate, Germany 1746, d KY 1838
Sarah Chittick is reported to be born in Palatinate, Germany in 1746 and married to Frederick Ripperdan.Their first three children were born in York Co., PA beginning in 1775 and they were taxpayers there in 1780.
They immigrated to Boonesboro Fort in KY in 1780 and reportedly came with the Dutch group that originated in Berkely Co., VA (now West VA).Some Dutch came down the Ohio River from PA and some came from VA through Cumberland Gap, meeting up and settling near each other in KY.Samuel is reported to be kin to the Durees and a brother-in-law to Henry Banta, who was leading the PA group.
Sarah and Fred named their children:Catherine, Martha, Esther Eleanor, John, Sarah H., Abraham Keller (named for a friend who was killed by Indians), Mary (Nancy), Susannah L., and Frederick.
Fred was a famous Indian fighter and is noted frequently in early KY histories.
