Joanna Sheaf(f)e and Dorothy (who married the Reverend Whitfield) were cousins not sisters as many compilers have written.

Dorothy was the daughter of Thomas Sheafe who is buried in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. He was a doctor of divinity and became Dean of Windsor. He remembers his daughter Dorothy WHITFIELD in his will made on 4 June, 1639 which was probated after his death there on 12 December, 1639.

Joanna was the daughter of Edmund as stated earlier. The wills of the Sheafe family are in Cranbrook, England and date back to early 1500s. Billie Redding Lewis
