Hi Harold, in the Chism book The Chiz, by John D. Chism, there is a William Elgin Chism b. 23 Dec 1821, to Jesse Chism and Cynthia or Sintha Lewis. She was dau of Wm. and Ann Lewis. Wm. Elgin Chism was born in AL. He married Rachel Byers 21st Nov 1844 in AL . His family has not been researched very much by John but it is known that he migrated to Texas near San Antonio and had with him his mother Sintha Lewis Chism. Wm. had a brother Elisha Washington Chism who also migrated to Texas. Elisha settled in the Tarrant Co. area. His wife Nancy Brittian is buried in the Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless TX.
