Hi again. The only information I have on Chism right now is on John Franklin Chism, born 1807 in Augusta County , Virginia. (Staunton area).
He came to Ohio in 1835, married in 1837 and lived the rest of his life (1890) in Ohio. He married Elizabeth Geiger. They had 5 sons and 1 daughter. One of their sons, Meredith Darlington Brock Chism was my husband's great grandfather. We would like to find out who John Franklin's parents were, also whether or not he had brothers and sisters, who they were, where they went, etc. Because of the fact that the name has so many variations in spelling, we're having trouble following it in Virginia. Have tried Census listings, etc., but no listings for the way we spell it, at least not in Virginia. His parents would have been born approximately 1780-1785.
