Faye:

My initial interest in the Chism family was regarding the interconnection to the Anglin family. In that regard, I'm still interested.

I've attempted to research both families to find some "proof" that John Sheppard Anglin was the father of my grandfather, David Pleasant Anglin. I found in the 1850 census for Monroe County that Mary Ann "Polly" Anglin and Sarah M. "Sallie" Anglin were daughters of John Sheppard Anglin. The problem has been that my grandfather, David Pleasant Anglin, was born in 1858 and the only census that is available for John Sheppard Anglin is the 1850 census. Therefore, he has never shown up on a census with John Sheppard Anglin. I have found some other evidence that ties him into the family but most of it is in the form of family tradition. David Pleasant Anglin married Mattie Miller, and when David signed his marriage bond, his cosigner was J. M. Chism. The best evidence , at this time, is that J. M. Chism was the brother-in-law that married Sallie Anglin, and was the son of John Chism who had married Sallie's sister, Polly.

According to the 1870 Monroe County census, John Chism had a wife, Pollie, and 6 children living in his household. Five of the children were ages 22 through 6. The sixth child was one year old, named William, and presumably was the first child of John and his new wife, Pollie. The 6 year old child, a boy, was named Cudella whose mother, most likely, was John's first wife, Susan. (This spelling of Cudella may not be correct but is what it looked like on the census record.) If I understand your posted message correctly, this boy, Cudella, was your husband's father. Or could this be your husband's grandfather?

I would be interested in getting any information you may have regarding the Chism family to further my research in this matter. And you're certainly welcome to any information that I have. I keep my records in a computer program and can furnish a GEDCOM for transfer of data. Or I can print out a hard copy and mail it to you.

For what it's worth, my address is as follows.
