Betty: I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw your posting. Your search is exactly the same as mine. I can go a little further back.
Here is what information I have:
1. Richard was born1747 in Orange Co Va and
died on 4-16-1799 in Green Co KY.
2. His father was James Chism(Chisham)Jr. and
brothers were George, John L. and possibly
Thomas E..
3. James Jr's father was James of Caroline
Chism b. about 1692. James Jr's brothers
were William and John "the constable".
4. James of Caroline's father was also named
James (1657-1698) married Ann Carter and
had atleast one other son named John (1681-1734)
5. Next was Richard Cheesome who married
Margaret Isham. This is as far as I can go.
6. John Chisman arrived on the Flying Harte
on 7 Feb 1624.Edward Chisman arrived on
the Providence on 7 Feb 1623. John, Edward
and Thomas Cheesman were listed as
settlers living in "Elizabeth Cittie",Va
Feb 16,1623/4. I'm not sure if these are
"Chism's" or if they are directly related.
Let me know if you come upon any other information- especially about James of
Caroline. He is my direct descendant and I
can't seem to find much information about him. Any other information will be more than
welcome. I will post other information later.
Good luck with your search.
