I am searching for more info on a Rorie CHISOLME (that spelling per the IGI - OPR's - batch C110412 on Family Search), whose son Donald CHISOLME was christened on May 17th, 1685 in Thurso.
I have SEVERAL close Ydna links to the Chisholm family, and this is an area of Scotland where I am 99% certain my family (Moody/Moodie/Mudie) also came from. We are of a known Norse haplotype (per ydna results) and a large group of MOODIE's were from this very area...from the Orkney's to Thurso/Caithness and then another large branch of them were in Ayrshire, Scotland before going over to Nor. Ireland sometime it appears in the late 1600's.
Apparently during the times Before Surnames were handed out, my Moodie family must have shared some close relations with the CHISHOLM's, so this is one name that I've not seen before and am wondering if anyone has info about this early "Rorie" line.
One family that we married into, the McQUISTON's/McCuiston's, but spelled early (in this same batch of names) as McHUISTON etc., are also from these areas. This particular batch of names seemed to have an overwhelming amount of the very ~other~ surnames that our famililes intermarried with.
The Moodie's are/were a sept of Clan Stewart and the McQuiston's are/were a sept of Clan Donald, ironically which my 5th grt. grandmother was a "Donald" and of that clan as well.
Thank You very much for any info you might be willing to share about the "Rorie" line or his son Donald.
